Rhacolepis is one of the most recognizable fish fossils from the Santana Formation and is known for its well-preserved skeletal structure and distinctive body shape. Specimens often display fine details such as scales, fin rays, and the articulated skeleton due to the exceptional fossilization conditions of the formation.

The fossil is preserved in natural condition within the original limestone matrix.

This species is getting more difficult to obtain since Brazil has an export ban for fossils, no new additions will come on the market.
