- Devonian period
This rare Harpes trilobite fossil from the Devonian period (~390 million years ago) is one of the most distinctive trilobite species from Morocco. It is easily recognized by its broad, shield-like cephalon (head) and delicate radial patterns, which served as protection and may have helped it sift through sediment on the ancient seafloor.
Beautifully preserved on its original matrix, this specimen showcases excellent contrast between fossil and rock. The meticulous preparation reveals fine surface details.
A true centerpiece for any collection, this Harpes fossil combines scientific importance with natural elegance. A glimpse into the diverse marine ecosystems of the Devonian seas.
PS: Matrix was glued after excavation, which is common with the trilobites from this location
