This authentic Araucaria mirabilis pine cone fossil has been carefully cut into two halves and polished, revealing the stunning inner structure of this prehistoric conifer. The cone dates back approximately 160 million years to the Jurassic period and was discovered in the world-famous petrified forests of Patagonia, Argentina.

Araucaria mirabilis is an extinct conifer. These fossilized cones are among the most famous plant fossils in the world, prized for their rarity and exceptional preservation. Many specimens still show the natural structure of the cone in remarkable detail. 

Export of these fossils is no longer permitted. This pieces comes from an old collection.
