Leonaspis is a genus of trilobite. These fascinating creatures belonged to a diverse group of marine arthropods that roamed ancient seas.
Leonaspis trilobites displayed the typical morphology of trilobites, characterized by a segmented exoskeleton divided into three lobes: a central axial lobe and two symmetrical lateral lobes. They typically possessed a rounded or oval-shaped body with distinct cephalon (head), thorax (mid-section), and pygidium (tail). The exoskeleton of Leonaspis was adorned with intricate ornamentation, including fine granules or tubercles, which provided protection and likely served as sensory structures.
