Eocarcharia, a carcharodontosaurid theropod dinosaur, roamed the Sahara 112 million years ago, within the present-day borders of Niger. This remarkable dinosaur is represented by its sole species, Eocarcharia dinops.

Eocarcharia ranks among the largest carnivores to have ever inhabited the Earth, with recent estimates suggesting a length of 7–9 meters. As a carcharodontosaurid, Eocarcharia likely preyed on sauropods
