Otodus obliquus teeth from Morocco are a remarkable fossils from one of the earliest ancestors of modern sharks, dating back to the Paleocene to Eocene periods (roughly 60–45 million years ago).
Otodus obliquus teeth are easily recognized by their large, triangular crown and prominent side cusps (small, pointed protrusions flanking the main tooth). The crown tapers to a sharp point, ideal for slicing through prey.
Unlike many modern shark teeth, Otodus obliquus teeth typically lack serrations on the edges of the crown, distinguishing them from later shark species.
These fossils are found in the phosphate mines of Morocco, which are world-renowned for their abundance of well-preserved prehistoric marine fossils
