found along the coast in South Carolina. Dating back to the Mioceen / Plioceen era. 18 million to 2.6 million years ago.

Isurus, usually referred to as the mako shark, is a genus of mackerel sharks. There are multiple extinct species that are known from fossils, as well as two current species: the common shortfin mako shark (Isurus oxyrinchus) and the rare longfin mako shark (Isurus paucus). They weigh on average 1,750 lbs. and range in length from 9 to 15 ft. The great white shark, porbeagle, and makos are all members of the Lamnidae family of sharks.
This "Isurus hastalis" Mako shark tooth is in excellent shape. It has excellent color, preservation, and detail.
