Mosasaurus was a giant marine reptile that thrived during the Late Cretaceous period, around 70-66 million years ago. With a streamlined body, it reached lengths of up to 50 feet (15 meters). Possessing powerful jaws filled with conical teeth, Mosasaurus was a formidable predator in ancient oceans. Its limbs evolved into paddle-like structures for efficient swimming, indicating an entirely aquatic lifestyle.

Mosasaurus was not a dinosaur but belonged to a group of reptiles called mosasaurs. Fossil discoveries suggest it had a global distribution, and its dominance in marine ecosystems highlights its adaptation to a diverse range of environments.
