- Fish: 7.48" = 19cm
- Guizhou, China
- Triassic period (~250 million years old)
This is a very detailed and excellent rare fossil of Asialepidotus shingyiensis, a prehistoric fish from the Triassic (~250 million years ago). It was discovered in the famous deposits in Guizhou Province China, an exceptional fossil site known for preserving early marine reptiles and fish in remarkable detail.
Asialepidotus shingyiensis belonged to an extinct group of ray-finned fishes. Its fossils often show an elongated body covered with thick scales a protective armor. These details are frequently preserved in fine contrast against the surrounding matrix, making specimens both scientifically important and visually striking.
Matrix size: 27cm x 17cm (on reinforced plate)
